Kids LOVE Kahoot!

Kids LOVE Kahoot! I use Kahoot!’s to help my students with basic facts: identifying ICT-related logos and icons, file extensions, and computer devices & components as well as cables and connectors. We play in class and of course the kids can use the Kahoot!s to work in their own time – an advanced type of flash-card collection.

In this post:
  1. Create
  2. Play
  3. Get you some!

1. Create

As a teacher, navigate to kahoot.com and register for a free, basic account. You can then start creating your own Kahoot!’s (or search the library for appropriate ones).

The process of creating a Kahoot! is fairly simple so I will only add some advice:

  • Use as many images as you can
  • Include some really silly answers to keep the kids laughing
  • Make the answers available for study (I created this post for the Guess the icon or logo Kahoot!: Icons & Logos you should recognise)
  • I keep the timing for each question to 10 seconds

2. Play

The students sign into kahoot.it and enter the Game PIN. They can enter a name (force them to use their actual name or there will be chaos) and they can select and customise their player characters.

I almost always play with the following options:

  • use Classic Mode
  • Randomise order of questions
  • Randomise order of answers

3. Get you some!

Here is a link to a course which combines 3 such Kahoot!s: https://create.kahoot.it/course/4043dba6-5795-4a8d-acd4-83eb350261ef
