Excel’s VALUE() function is a simple function easily illustrated by examples.

Required knowledge:

1. Syntax

=VALUE(text)

Where text is a cell which contains a number stored as text.

Returns a value.

2. Examples

Column A is formatted as Text. Cell B2 contains the function =VALUE(A2) which has been copied down to B15. Cell A2 is null, cell A3 contains spaces.
